Hello hello, good people of the world. I just decided that it would be not only prudent, but pertinent, to write a brief blog concerning what I shall be engaged in over the next three and a half months (I leave Wednesday. Dear gods, save me.). I cannot believe that in less than a week...maybe I shouldn't do this now. I have to go clean my room.
...
Sorry, don't worry, I'll give you something to work with. Three and a half months in Italy and Greece!
Okay, here's the deal.
On Wednesday, September 2nd, I catch an evening flight for London, Heathrow, from where, in the early afternoon the next day (they better have in-flight movies), I will catch my flight to Rome. For that night and the night following, I will stay in a hotel hopefully nearby the train station, getting a little bit of practice "surviving in a foreign land." I am not allowed to be at the villa in Pistoia before the evening of the 5th, so I'll have a lot of time. Here's the wicked cool stuff we'll be doing on our three weeks in Italy - two nights in Venice, three nights in Rome, some wonderful amount of time in Florence, and the rest of the time at our villa. Doesn't that sound idyllic? Please don't be jealous - I don't even think I'll be able to understand how wonderful all this is until I actually experience it. I already know my parents are ridiculously amazing for offering me this.
On the 30th, we travel to Athens, where we stay for three days before taking a boat to Paros. There, we out the rest of the stay creating wonderful art and basking in the glory of the majestic land we are inhabiting. Not to mention marveling that we're sitting on the island from which the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, pulled almost all of its Roman exhibit. Whew.
I'm sure I'll add more detail later.
Signing off,
Egg
